This Week’s Episode of…Mormons in the Jungle

So this week was full of ups and downs. Today I finally bought new shoes that are were actually probably used by someone in the States, haha. There are a lot of hand-me-downs here, haha. This week has been hotter but we are still enjoying Christmas time! I hope you guys are as well! We found some awesome people named Ilda and Larry. Larry is a young guy about 24 years old and is very ready to get baptized. He has a lot of addictions and he has felt the need to change. He says he feels a weight over him and he asked us how he can change his life. We started to teach him about the Restored gospel of Jesus Christ especially how baptism can cleanse ones past mistakes. But when we invited him to Church he didnt go and I think he felt a little scared. However last night after Church, (we got out of Church at 5:30), we just passed by Larry´s house. As we passed by the grandmother told us she didn’t want us to pass because her son, Larry’s uncle was drunk and gets very nasty when he’s drunk. He doesn’t do anything physical that I know of but just says horrible things to the people. Larry was on the other side and asked us to come in so the grandmother suggested we go around back and take some wooden chairs and talk outside while the crazy drunk uncle was inside. We started to talk and before we could begin with a prayer, he started to cry. He cried and cried and told us how he wanted to change his life. He told us he didn’t go to Church becuase he had been having problems especially with his drunk uncle at the house. He volunteered to pray and when he did he prayed in a way asking God for help to change that made me almsot cry. I realized that although sometimes its hard with some of the things we go through and in the mission especially, the price is worth paying. We leave our familes and friends for a short time so that others can be with their loved ones forever. I thought how badly he wanted to change and I thought of Christ and His Atonement. I testify of the all powerful Christ who loved us enough to suffer and die for each and every one of us individually, so that we could be happy with Him and our Heavenly Father and our eternal familes forever. The goal for is for each of us to have eternal life and become what our Heavenly father wants us to become. Like Him. I testify that the Atonement can heal and cleanse and purify any hurt, whether it be spiritual, emotional, mental, physical, or any other kind of hurt. I want everyone to know that I know that forgiveness sf real and comes only in and through Jesus Christ the Son of God. Remember this Christmas that He was born and allowed to suffer and die for us. Remember even more that He loves us and was resurrected and because of Him we can be whole spiritually and we will be whole physically again. I am going to set a goal to be a little kinder, a little more considerate and enjoy life a little more and try to share the Gospel more. That challenge can be for all of us. I love you guys and remember the reason for Christmas! 🙂
